SGL Group’s 2009 Scholarship award ceremony held in ICC

The ceremony of Outstanding PostgraduatesScholarships and Research Assistant Prize awarded by SGL Group was held on November 11th in ICC.Dr. Guenter Hermann,SGL Group’s Director and General Manager of China, and Prof. Jianguo Wang, director of ICC, attended the ceremony and expressed congratulations to the prize winners. Altogether 6 excellent students obtained 50,000 Yuan rewards, and 2 scientific researches related to carbon graphite material won 50,000 Yuan financial supports.  

Dr. Guenter Hermann in his speech mentioned that as one of the world's leading carbon group, SGL Group is committed to carbon materials used in many fields of industrial solutions, and provides quality services. Entering the Chinese market for 11 years, SGL Group has made remarkable achievements in Chinese market development, gradually expanding its market share. In the financial crisis situation, SGL group still stick to its established strategy, which is to award the second session of outstanding postgraduate scholarship and research assistant prize in the Institute of Coal Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. They hope through setting up scholarships to encourage the talented youth to pursue innovatively research and the development in carbon materials, and attract them to join in China R&D team of SGL.

 Prof. Jianguo Wang said that as a national research institute, ICC is devoted to clean energy and advanced materials research and development. In the field of carbon materials, the researches cover high-performance carbon fiber and composite materials, special carbon materials, activated carbon materials, and nano-carbon materials, therefore ICC has common interests and concerns with SGL. Prof. Wang also highly appreciated SGL initiatives in setting up these scholarships.

Both sides showed willingness to establish a mutual trust and long-term strategic cooperative partnership, in terms of young talents training and high-tech transformation in the field of carbon materials.
