In July 2010, Dr. Francis Luck, Research Manager of the Scientific Development Division of Total and Dr. Xu Zhonghua, Chief Science Representative of Total in China visited the State Key Laboratory of Coal Conversion (SKLCC).
On July 3, the guests visited the pilot plants of the atmospheric and pressurized ash agglomerating pulverized coal gasification processes, accompanied by Prof. Yang Jianli and Dr. Zhang Yongqi.
On July 4, a discussion was held by Prof. Zhu Zhenping, Deputy Director of SKLCC. Firstly, Dr. Xu Zhonghua gave a glance of Total Company, and Dr. Francis Luck gave a presentation titled “R&D and Technology Challenges for Future Energy Needs” and introduced their research fields and interests in energy activities. Then, Prof. Yang Jianli gave a brief introduction of ICC and SKLCC. Prof. Zhu Zhenping, Prof. Guo Xiangyun and Prof. Qin Zhangfeng introduced their research work and some interesting results, separately. Dr. Zhang Qingde gave a presentation titled “Research on the High Value-added Downstream Products of Dimethyl Ether”.
Total Company, with operations in more than 130 countries, is one of the main international companies of oil and gas in the world. Last month, Total signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and its aim is to set up collaboration links with the scientific research institutions in China.
