IntroductionSynthesis of Methanol via CO2 hydrogenation is an effective and reasonable way for the utilization of carbon dioxide. Methanol is an important feedstock for organic chemistry industry and the most promising new environment-friendly clean alternative fuel. The application of methanol will be greatly expanded as the rapid development of MTO, MTP, MTG, MTA and the methanol fuel cell technology, thus relieving the technological dependence on oil, coal, natural gas and other fossil resources.
Research results As early as the 1990s, researchers of ICC have carried out systematical studies on CO2 hydrogenation to methanol, including the optimization of catalysts, technology and system. Cu/ZrO2 based catalysts have been developed and the CO2 conversion and methanol selectivity can reach 26% and more than 98% respectively at the condition of 5.0 MPa and 250℃. The prepared catalyst has good prospect for industrial application due to its excellent catalytic performance. At present, the catalyst shaping and pilot test is under preparation. Application field Greenhouse gas emission reduction and carbon dioxide utilization.
